Susan Cohen received her MFA in painting from Brooklyn College, where she studied with Lennart Anderson, Philip Pearlstein and Lois Dodd. While there, she received a graduate fellowship and was the recipient of the Charles G. Shaw Award for painters. She earned her BFA from the Boston Museum School and Tufts University. She is currently one of ten artists included in Garvey Simon’s “Select 22”, and has exhibited her work at First Street Gallery, NYC, The Painting Center, NYC, the Cynthia Winings Gallery, Blue Hill, ME, and in juried exhibitions in New York and in other cities. As a previous member of Zeuxis, an organization of still-life painters, her work was shown in venues all around the country. Her work is in many private and public collections, among them the US State Department Office of Population, Refugees and Immigration; Bank of New York; and Texas Instruments.

She was a resident artist at the Vermont Studio Center, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Cummington Community for the Arts. She maintains a studio on West 39th Street in Manhattan, and paints on location in New England, upstate New York, and recently, in Italy.
